Free NCAAF Pick: Wyoming vs. Michigan State Gambling Lines & Preview

Week 5 Odds: Cowboys vs Spartans

#9 Michigan State (2-1) hosts Wyoming (3-1) in what’ll be one of the biggest blowouts of the week. Be sure to come back to Cappers Picks regularly, as we post free college football picks daily.

Wyoming has jumped out to a great record with wins over Montana, Air Force and Florida Atlantic. The lone loss was against Oregon. Michigan State has two cupcake wins and a loss to Oregon as well.

Both of these teams lost to Oregon in blow out fashion. Wyoming lost 48-14 and the Spartans lost 46-27 in Eugene. I think those score lines have some bettors looking towards Wyoming covering ATS.

Michigan State is still considered one of the top teams in the nation despite losing to Oregon. The defense is the strong point on this team. MSU has only allowed 290.0 YPG (14th) and 22.3 PPG (50th).

The offense was bad last season, but what a turnaround we’ve seen. Most of the damage has been done against poor teams, but MSU is averaging 48.3 PPG (6th), 285.7 PYPG (35th) and 223.3 RYPG (34th).

Wyoming has been the complete opposite on offense. The Owls are scoring 17.0 PPG (121st) while picking up an average of 204.8 PYPG (94th) and 147.0 RYPG (88th) through four games this season.

Colby Kirkegaard has only completed 57% of his pass attempts for 4 TD’s and 3 INT’s. Kirkegaard doesn’t run the football either, as he still doesn’t have a single rush attempt this season.

Losing to Oregon seemed to wake up the Spartans and they know they have to dominate the teams that they’re expected to beat. Last week MSU beat Eastern Michigan 73-14 in a massive blow out.

The defense forced six turnovers in the game and I expect the Spartans defense to force multiple TO’s in this match-up as well. Wyoming’s offense is a mess and it’ll show against a team like MSU.

I’m excited to see what the Spartans run offense can do this week. Last week eleven players on MSU had at least one rush. As a team, Michigan State gained 336 yards and 7 TD’s on 60 carries (5.6 YPC).

  • WYO are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games in September.
  • MSU are 9-2-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • MSU are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
  • Under is 14-6 in MSU last 20 games on grass.

Free NCAAF Pick: Wyoming vs. Michigan State

Last week Nick Hill led MSU with 14 carries, but he only averaged 4.1 YPC. Delton Williams carries the ball 10 times for 103 yards and 3 TD’s. Look for Williams to have another big day with some long runs.

Connor Cook barely got to play last week, but I expect him to stay in this game longer. The Spartans have a big game next week against Nebraska although I don’t expect MSU to look past Wyoming.

4* Free Play On Michigan State –31 (-110)

This is a team with pride and they tend to dominate teams they’re supposed to. The totals seems a bit low also, as MSU could exceed the total themselves, but the best bet is on MSU to cover –31 points.
