College Football Picks Week 7:

Saturday October 15, 2009

(20) Oklahoma at (3) Texas at 12:00 PM ET, Cotton Bowl

Oklahoma Sooners +3
Texas Longhorns -3
O/U 51

This is one the big games this week. Despite Sam Bradford being back the idea of the Sooners beating the Longhorns at home is seems a little far fetched. Expect a good football game but home advantage will be the game decider here.

My pick: Texas by a TD. Over.

(7) Ohio State at Purdue at 12:00 PM ET, Ross-Ade Stadium

Ohio State Buckeyes -14
Purdue Boilemakers+14
O/U 48

QB Terrelle Pryor can’t be bet on every week and he is coming from a mediocre performance against Wisconsin last week, however facing Purdue at home seems like an easy challenge for this Buckeyes team.

My pick: Ohio State won’t cover the spread. Under.

(11) Iowa at Wisconsin at 12:00 PM ET, Camp Randall Stadium

Iowa Haweyes+2
Wisconsin Badgers -2
O/U 48

It doesn’t seem that Wisconsin is the team that is going to beat a strong Hawkeyes. Iowa needs to start the game off strong; they had to come from behind in 2 of their last three games. Badgers QB Scott Tolzien will try to forget about last week loss against Ohio State when he threw a couple of interceptions passes.

My pick: Iowa will cover the spread. Over.

Arkansas at (1) Florida, at 3:30 PM ET, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Arkansas Razorbacks +24
Florida Gators -24
O/U 55

After the defensive showcase by Florida against LSU last week, would you bet against the Gators?

My Pick: Florida will cover the spread. Over.

(6) USC at (25) Notre Dame at 3:30 PM ET, Notre Dame Stadium

USC Trojans-10
Notre Dame Fighting Isrish+10
O/U 48

I know Pete Carrol’s teams are built to deliver in big games, and that Charlie Weis’ teams underachieve in the same games. However I can smell an upset here as there is an opportunity for QB Jimmy Clausen to prove he is the real deal.

My pick: Notre Dame to beat the spread. Under.

Minnesota at (14) Penn State at 3:30 PM ET, Beaver Stadium

Minnesota Golden Gophers +16
Penn State Nittany Lions -16
O/U 49

Penn State has won 6 of 10 meetings against Minnesota. The Nittany Lions have never lost consecutive home games to unranked Big Ten opponents. Minnesota’s best weapon is their running game but Penn State is eighth in the nation in rushing defense allowing 81.8 yards per game.

My pick: Penn State won’t cover the 16 points. Under.

(4) Virginia Tech at (19) Georgia Tech AT 6:00 PM ET, Bobby Dodd

Virginia Tech Hokies -3.5
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +3.5
O/U 52

Virginia Tech is one of the best team in college football right now. They rely on the legs of RB Ryan Williams who is having an amazing season with 734 yards and 9 TD on the ground. But Georgia Tech also has a good run game as they rank 4th in the nation in rushing yards. We can expect a hard hitting football game.

My pick: The Hokies will cover the spread. Under.

(22) South Carolina at (2) Alabama at 7:45 PM ET, Bryant-Denny Stadium.

South Carolina Gamecocks +17
Alabama Crimson Tide -17
O/U 46

Alabama has the 11th ranked rushing offense in the country and South Carolina rush defense is ranked 7th in the SEC. Expect Crimson Tide to run the ball strong and easy.

My pick: Alabama will cover the spread, Over.

Missouri at (16) Oklahoma State at 9:15 PM ET, Boone Pickens Stadium.

Missouri Tigers -16
Oklahoma State Cowboys +16
O/U 57

Missouri has won its last four visits to Stillwater and had won seven of nine against Oklahoma State before last year’s loss. QB Blaine Gabbert will try to keep up with his amazing year with his 1295 yards and 11 TD so far.

My pick: Missouri won’t cover the 16 points. Under.

One reply on “2009 CFB: Week 7 Free Football ATS Predictions”

Could this be the year that Notre Dame pulls off the upset against USC? They are probably as close talent wise as they have been in years.

This will be Charlie Weiss’s best chance to silence the critics, so it will be interesting to see how his team responds.
