FSU Seminoles vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Gambling Prediction & Week 14 Preview

Seminoles vs Yellow Jackets NCAA Football Spread/Handicapping

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the No. 13 Florida State Seminoles are both coming off brutal losses to in-state rivals, but both also have a chance to redeem themselves in the ACC championship. The winner of this battle will propel themselves into the Orange Bowl, and while last week’s losses were tough on both squads, they have to forget the past and focus on this weekend’s matchup.

Florida State Seminoles

The Florida State Seminoles put together a fantastic overall showing throughout the 2012 college football season, but they looked ugly last week in their loss to the Florida Gators. The team gave up 37 points—24 of which came in the fourth quarter—and they proved that they’re not worthy of BCS title contention this year.

In that game, the offensive line didn’t do their job. They gave up eight sacks and they only played well enough to help their rushing game get 112 yards. The front line must protect E.J. Manuel better against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but the truth is, their performance against Florida was an anomaly, and they will enter the contest against GT as the favorites.

Florida State’s offensive line needs to step up, but it’s their defensive line that truly needs to be on top of their game. Georgia Tech will run the ball all game long, and the d-line must be ready. On the season, FSU has been outstanding against the run, as they’ve given up just 85.1 yards per game, which is good enough for fourth in the country. If you contain the Yellow Jackets’ running game, you contain their offense.

The Seminoles are one of the most dynamic two-way teams in college football. They score 41.5 points per game (8th in the nation), they allow just 15.1 points per game (7th in the nation) and they are going to be one of the biggest challenges Georgia Tech faces this season.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets played well enough this year to earn a 6-6 record, as well as a spot in the ACC championship, but the truth is that they wouldn’t even be in this game if it weren’t for a bowl ban that made the Miami Hurricanes ineligible.

Defensively, this team has struggled all year. They’ve given up 30.7 points per game, which is only good enough for 30.7 points. They’re better against the run than they are against the pass, but against a balanced Florida State attack that goes for more than 200 yards on the ground and more than 270 yards through the air, they have to be prepared.

Offensively, this team is going to try and run you out of the stadium with their ground game. They are the third-best running team in the country, which counters their non-existent passing game.

This matchup is going to come down to one of the best running games versus one of the best running defenses. Florida State has been the better team all season, and that notion’s not likely to change in the ACC championship. The Seminoles fit the mold of a BCS team much better than Georgia Tech does this year, and it would be a huge upset if the Yellow Jackets were able to pull off a victory this weekend.
