These two games are going to be close, but I really like Washington and Penn State despite both of these teams playing on the road. Michigan is in big trouble while California can’t seem to stop any team.

Game #1 – Washington Huskies vs. California Golden Bears

NCAA Football Point Spread: California –3.5
NCAA Football Over/Under: OFF

Matchup | Preview

California 4-1 (2-1 Pac-12) has been lucky to win the last two weeks. They needed double OT to beat the Buffaloes (59-56) and they had trouble on the road against Washington State (60-59) last week.

[dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Golden Bears are one of the highest scoring teams (50.0 PPG – 2nd) in the nation, but they also give up a ton of points (40.4 PPG – 122nd). Not being able to stop anyone will hurt this team eventually.

This offense has a great passing attack (398.2 PYPG – 3rd) and they’re also rushing the football for 150.2 RYPG (83rd). Jared Goff will have success through the air, as the Huskies allow 268.8 PYPG (102nd).

Washington is solid at stopping the run (128.4 RYPG – 42nd), but the Golden Bears are a team that likes to air it out and they’ll do exactly that. The Washington Huskies 4-1 (0-1 Pac-12) lost last week.

Stanford played solid defense and won 20-13, but the Golden Bears won’t be able to stop the Huskies. So far this season California is allowing 427.8 PYPG, which is the worst in the nation by over 75 yards.

Cyler Miles was criticized this week for running out of the pocket too quickly last week. He’ll have a ton of pressure on him to perform in this game, but he’ll be at home and against a terrible pass defense.

Washington is averaging 162.6 PYPG (112th) and 207.6 RYPG (37th). California has had success stopping the run (117.0 RYPG – 32nd), but the Huskies have to keep a balanced offense to win this game.

Last year the Huskies beat Cal (41-17) at home and they gained 642 total yards on offense. Washington is also 4-1 ATS in the last five H2H meetings. I feel this game ends within a FG, so I’m on the Huskies.

NCAA Football Pick: Huskies keep it close at home and cover ATS.

Game #2 – Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Michigan Wolverines

NCAA Football Point Spread: Wolverines –1
NCAA Football Over/Under: OFF

Matchup | Preview

Penn State 4-1 (1-1 Big Ten) lost last week on the road to Northwestern (29-6). The Michigan Wolverines 2-4 (0-2 Big Ten) has now lost three in a row against unranked opponents (Utah, Minnesota & Rutgers).

It was announced this week that the Wolverines leading rusher (Derrick Green) will be out for the rest of the season. Brady Hoke and the entire team are under immense pressure to perform this weekend.

Devin Gardner is playing with zero confidence right now. Michigan is averaging 173.2 PYPG (109th) and 180.8 RYPG (57th). They only score 22.3 PPG (104th) and the fans are growing restless in Ann Arbor.

[dfads params=’groups=63739&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

I really think Michigan is going to lose SU again although it’ll likely be close, as Penn State rarely beats up on anyone because of their own scoring problems. PSU is only scoring 22.8 PPG (99th) this year.

PSU has had a bit of trouble stopping the pass, but they rank 2nd in the nation at stopping the run, as they only give up an average 60.2 RYPG. If the Wolverines can’t run the football they’ll be in big trouble.

Michigan’s defense ranks 12th in rushing yards allowed (100.2 RYPG) and 36th in passing yards allowed (215.3 PYPG). They’ve actually played well, but the offense hasn’t been able to get on the same page.

Penn State has won the last four H2H meetings and has gone 4-0 ATS. Michigan is usually a really tough place to play, but this team is a mess right now and the Nittany Lions can’t afford losing.

NCAA Football Pick: Penn State controls the tempo and wins comfortably.
