Central Michigan Chippewas (8-2) vs Ball State Cardinals (1-9)
Central Michigan: 7-2 ATS / Ball State: 5-4 ATS

The Ball State Cardinals will host the Central Michigan Chippewas on Wednesday.

The last time these two teams met was on Nov 19, 2008. The Cardinals walked away with a 31-24 victory. But can Ball State do it again?

The Cardinals have lost two straight games including a 26-20 defeat to Northern Illinois in Week 11. Quarterback Tanner Justice — who was elevated to starter status after Kelly Page went down with an injury back on Oct. 15, had his best game this season against the Huskies. Justice completed 11-of-19 passes for a career-best 134 yards. The Cardinals’ run defense has been solid, holding their opponents to an average of 114 yards a game on the ground in the past six contests. The Cardinals haven’t been as disciplined in the penalty area. They have committed nine penalties in each of the past two games.

The Chippewas bounced back from a tough loss at Boston College as quarterback Dan LeFevour ran for four touchdowns and threw for a pair, completing 29-of-36 for 341 yards, leading Central Michigan to a 56-28 victory over Toledo in Week 11. Tailback Bryan Schroeder rushed for 105 yards on 13 carries, while receiver Bryan Anderson caught four passes for 67 yards in the win. Anderson has a reception in 50 straight games, the longest active streak in the country and one game shy of the NCAA record.

CMU is playing at the top of their game.

Chippewas vs. Cardinals Odds:

The odds makers currently have the Chippewas as –17 ½ -point favorites.

The Cardinals will need an impressive performance from their defense in this one, especially their run stoppers. They will also need to refrain from bad penalties. CMU will attack both with the pass and on the ground as they have proven they can do.

Ball State is not the team they were last season.

Central Michigan vs. Ball St. Free Pick:

I am going with the Chippewas in this one to cover the spread.
