College football betting players should be in for a shootout on Saturday night in the Conference USA, where Tulsa will travel to Houston in a game of teams with explosive offenses, as well as terrible defenses. Who is going to make the big stop when they need to make it?

The Golden Hurricane (6-3, 3-2) won their third straight game with a 64-27 romp over Rice, racking up an outlandish 612 yards of offense. G.J. Kinne was 26-of-39 for 371 yards and four touchdowns, while Damaris Johnson caught eight passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns, along with a 94-yard kickoff return for another score. The Golden Hurricane still gave up 415 yards, but they forced a couple of turnovers to help their cause. You should see plenty of scores in this one: Tulsa is seventh in the nation in total offense, but they’re also 108th in total defense.
Houston (5-4, 4-2) ranks 11th in the country in total offense, but 83rd in total defense after a 40-33 loss at home to Central Florida. The Cougars were down 23-10 at halftime, but fought back to make a game of it before falling short. David Piland went 27-of-44 for 334 yards, four touchdowns and a couple of picks as the Cougars put up 532 yards, along with a pair of turnovers. The problem is that Houston gave up 522 yards while forcing a single turnover, and that was essentially the game for the Cougars.
The Cougars are a 2-point favorite at home in your pay per head sportsbook, and they’ve played Tulsa twice at Robertson Stadium, winning both meetings with the highlight coming in 2008 when they throttled Tulsa 70-30. Tulsa would love to avenge a 46-45 loss at home last year to the Cougars, falling on a last-second 51-yard field goal, and their plan is to get the ball to Johnson as much as possible (he had 10 catches for 144 yards against Houston last year), and the Cougars are going to have to combat that. But the nation’s worst pass defense may be their downfall as we figure that the Cougars are going to make the key stop that they need to make, especially at home. There are still going to be plenty of points on the board in this C-USA showdown, but Houston gets the edge. Houston also knows that a win would keep them atop the C-USA West and put some breathing room between them and the Golden Hurricanes. If you’re a fan of defense, stay far, far away from this game as it will surely be a shootout.
