NCAA Football Betting – Pirates, Knights Battle For C-USA Supremacy

Before College Football Gambling fans turn their attention to other sports betting events this week, we have the Thursday NCAA game of the day pick for you. It’s time for our weekly Football picks for online ncaa football betting action.

Team records:
East Carolina: 5-2 SU, 5-2 ATS
Central Florida: 5-2 SU, 5-1 ATS

NCAA football betting players don’t usually look to Conference USA for big games, but first place in the C-USA’s East division will be up for grabs on Saturday when East Carolina heads to Central Florida for an intriguing matchup.

East Carolina’s air attack will go up against UCF’s tough pass defense; who will come out on top?

East Carolina UCF Betting – Saturday, October 30th, 3:30 PM ET

The Pirates (5-2, 4-0) actually switched it up a bit in their 37-10 rout of Marshall at home, rushing for 194 yards. Jonathan Williams had 10 carries for 111 yards and a score for the Pirates, who also got 208 yards, two touchdowns and a pick from Dominique Davis, who also ran for a score.

The Pirates forced four turnovers, which actually saved them as Marshall converted on 10 of their 18 third-down opportunities, and East Carolina didn’t register a sack for the first time all year. Online football betting players better not sleep on the Pirates, who put in good efforts in a losing cause against North Carolina State and Kansas State, their major-conference opposition. They’re a balanced team who could very well roll to the C-USA title.

But they’re going to have to get past the Knights (5-2, 3-0), who raced out to a 27-0 halftime lead in a 41-14 trouncing of Rice at home. Jeff Godfrey was 13-of-18 for 178 yards and a touchdown for the Knights, who ended up passing for 269 yards and running for another 122 yards.

The defense was on point, holding the Owls to 229 yards, including 88 on the ground, although that was because Rice was down by a lot and had to go to the air to try and attempt a comeback. The Knights have now won three in a row, and this is a massive game for them.

Betting services have the Knights as a 7.5-point NCAA football betting favorite at home, but East Carolina has won both of their trips to East Carolina, a 23-10 win in 2006, and a 13-10 victory in 2008. Overall, the Pirates have won five of their last six against the Knights, who will pit their ninth-ranked pass defense against East Carolina’s No.11 pass offense.

The big problem for East Carolina is a defense that ranks 105th in both total and scoring defense, which means a shootout is looming, and we’re not sure that the Pirates will be able to make a stop when they need to. UCF’s offense isn’t that great, but the East Carolina defense will make them look like Oregon if the Knights can get it going early.

Online sports betting pick: UCF -7.5

One reply on “Pirates vs. Knights NCAA Football Pick / Gambling Preview (Sept. 30)”

Things to consider: Central Florida’s D appears good on paper but is due to an extreemly week schedule. 111 in the nation to be exact. Playing teams such as Buffalo and North Dakota would pad anyones defensive stats. UCF has played two decent opponents and have lost to both. On the flip side, ECU’s D has never been as bad as it appears on paper. Mainly due to the fact that in their two losses to VT and UNC, their QB threw two pick sixs in both of those games. And another one in a game they won. That is five TD’s that were held against their D when they were not even on the field. It should also be noted that they were winning both of those games through three quarters before the pick sixs occured and that their qb has not thrown in INT in three games now. In realty, UCF’s D will be no better than the teams ECU has consistantly played such as VT, UNC, Southern Miss and NC State. ECU beat NCSU when UCF could not. Both were home matches for each team and rest assured NC State was a little more motivatd to play ECU than UCF. ECU defense held Marshall to less points than UCF’ defense…something else to consider. ECU has historically owned UCF with an 8-1 record. Both teams are 5-2. Of ECU’s five wins, three are against teams with winning records (NC State 5-2, Southern Miss 5-2, and Tulsa 4-3). Although UCF has 5 wins, none are against teams that have a winning record. In fact the temas that they have beaten (S. Dakota, Buffalo, UAB, Marshall, and Rice) are a combined 9-27. There is no reason why ECU should be underdogs in this game. The line is as such to encourage bets on ECU and counter-bets by the larger market in Florida. ECU is always a popular topic among betting communities due to the fact that they consistantly play solid oponents and you are able to easily gauge what kind of team they have- good or bad.
