Wisconsin

The Spartans are used to it by now but that doesn’t mean the formula won’t be effective.

Both teams are looking to win and jump above the other in the conference standings.

The last time these two teams played neither cracked 50 points.  Only one Badger scored as many 10 points which makes it amazing they were able to keep the game within a bucket.  It was an epically bad shooting game for the Badgers including a pathetic 39% from the free throw line.

The key to the upset will be making just a reasonable share of their shots.  They don’t have to be on fire just put the ball through the hole a couple of times.

The Badgers are generally a good bet as an underdog because they are so good at getting opponents to play their style of game.  However, on the road against an opponent like Michigan State they have to play disruptively and well.

It just doesn’t feel right for the upset Thursday night which is kind of what you are going to need to win. [ad-6571516]

Michigan State

The Michigan State formula is not all that different than Wisconsin’s they just have a higher level of overall talent.  As such it was no surprise that the last game between these two came down to the wire.  One of these two teams will be in second place (possibly tied) after this contest and the smart play is that MSU will emerge victorious.

The Spartans have lost three in a row though, all to ranked teams.

Against Wisconsin the last time the backcourt duo of Luke Appling and Brandon Dawson scored 37 of the team’s 49 points.  If you look even more closely you will see that only 4 points were scored by frontcourt players which is especially surprising because the duo of Adrien Payne and Derrick NIx have been really strong as of late.

To win again more easily they should look to establish these players as they have a significant advantage.

These are two tough teams.  It is hard not to like the Spartans at home with a number they can cover over just a couple of possession.

They were the underdogs when these teams met in Madison, winning and covering at +2.

Now the pendulum has swung the other way 6 points but they are still a good value play.
