The Sweet 16 is set and there were many upsets so far in the Big Dance, but 3 of the top seeds are still alive and those 3 teams in Duke, Kansas, and Ohio State having the best odds to win it all. Here are the teams with the 8 best odds as well as a couple sleepers.

Duke +250

Duke has the best odds to win the NCAA Tournament and they face a somewhat surprising Arizona team in the Sweet 16. The Blue Devils did not play the best game in their third round game against Michigan only winning by 2 points. However, Duke won the tournament last season and they have a great inside/outside game. Add to the fact they have stud freshman G Kyrie Irving (16.4 ppg) back on the court and that is HUGE for them.

Kansas +250

Kansas has played great defense so far in the Big Dance and they have gotten great play in the tournament from the Morris twins. The twins have been scoring at will have been dominant on the boards. The Jayhawks’ D has held their 2 opponents to less than 38.5% shooting in both games. The Jayhawks may have the easiest road to the Final 4 having to play 12th seed Richmond in the Sweet 16 and 10th seed FSU or 11th seed VCU in the regional final.

Ohio St +250

Ohio State has won their first 2 Big Dance games by a total of 61 points, but they face a tough Kentucky team in the Sweet 16. They have shot lights out from the field and especially from beyond the 3-pt arc and star F Jared Sullinger has played well and had a double-double in their 3rd round blowout win. If they beat Kentucky they may face UNC in the Elite 8, so their road to the Final 4 is not an easy one.

North Carolina +1200

UNC faces Marquette in the Sweet 16 and they have gotten great play from their forwards in the tournament. The Tar Heels rank #1 in the nation in rebounds per game and they have a very athletic team. However, they may face Ohio State in the Elite 8 and Duke in the Final 4, so their work is cut out for them.

San Diego St +1200

SDSU escaped their 3rd round game against Temple winning in double OT. They face a red-hot UCONN team in the Sweet 16 and to cool them down they will need continued solid play from the F trio of Kawhi Leonard, Billy White, and Malcolm Thomas who combined to score 45 points and grab 31 boards in the win over Temple.

Connecticut +1200

Is any team hotter than UCONN? They beat 4 ranked teams to win the Big East Conference tournament and they have won both of their games in the Big Dance by double figures. Kemba Walker’ s draft stock has skyrocketed in the last few weeks, but they will get a stiff test against SDSU in the Sweet 16 and their 7th ranked defense.

Florida +1500

Florida has looked solid so far and they have the luxury in playing in the weakest region in the Southeast Region. The Gators have been playing well on both ends of the court and they face BYU and Jimmer Fredette in the Sweet 16.

Wisconsin +1500

Like Florida Wisconsin is playing in the weak Southeast Region and they have one of the best defenses in the nation. However, I think they are a HUGE dark horse even at +1500, as they only rank 192nd in the nation in scoring and 299th in the nation in rebounds per game.

Sleepers

Hard to call any team a sleeper any more, but here are a couple of teams that I think have a chance. I picked 4th seed Kentucky and 10th seed Florida State even though there are many other low seeds still alive such as VCU, Marquette, Richmond, and Butler.

Kentucky +2000

Kentucky has a great F tandem in Josh Harrellson and Terrence Jones, who can both score and hit the boards, and star freshman G Brandon Knight. The Wildcats face Ohio State in the Sweet 16, which is a tough match up, duh, but they have the athletes to keep up with the Buckeyes and I see an upset in that game.

Florida State +4000

Florida State already pulled off a couple of upsets including beating 2nd seed Notre Dame to advance to the Sweet 16. The Seminoles do not have a high scoring team, but they have been playing great defense. In their 14-point win over Notre Dame FSU held the Fighting Irish to 30.6% shooting. They are favored in their Sweet 16 game against another sleepers in VCU and will likely play Kansas in the Elite 8.
