The West Virginia Mountaineers take on the Syracuse Orange in a pivotal matchup of two teams fighting for position in the congested Big East standings. Tonight’s game from the Carrier Dome is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

West Virginia ended a two-game skid with an 82-71 win over DePaul as a 17 ½-point home favorite this past Saturday. The Mountaineers are now 16-8 straight-up overall and 9-12 against the spread. They are four-way tie for fifth-place in the Big East standings with a conference record of 7-5 SU.

Syracuse is coming off rare back-to-back conference losses. The Orange lost to No.11 Georgetown 64-56 last Wednesday as a five-point home favorite and to No. 15 Louisville 73-69 as a two-point road underdog this past Saturday. They are 20-6 SU overall (9-15 ATS) and in ninth-place in the Big East at 7-6 SU.

The Orange feature a solid trio of players in Kris Joseph, who is averaging a team-high 14.7 points, Rick Jackson, who leads the team in rebounds with 11.2 a game, and Scoop Jardine, who is averaging 12.4 points and six assists a game. Syracuse is averaging 73 points a game and pulling down an average of 38 rebounds.

Syracuse is 9-1 SU in its last 10 games against the Mountaineers and 5-1 ATS in the last six. Bank on this trend staying true this time around with a convincing win for the Orange.
