The Louisville Cardinals have lost just twice this year, but they are lacking a huge win over a big name opponent. This is an opportunity for Pitino’s team to prove they will be a real contender in the difficult Big East. Villanova lost a couple early on, but they have reeled off nine straight wins. The Wildcats are usually tough at home. This should be a good Big East battle. 
Louisville has proven able to win games in multiple ways this season. They have scored 86 points or more on six different occasions, but they have also held their opponent to 54 or less three times. The Cardinals are 12th in the nation in points per game, and they are 16th in the nation in field goal percentage defense.
Villanova seems to perennially be a guard-oriented team and that is no different this year. Corey Stokes and Corey Fisher are the two leaders for this team, and Maalik Wayns is a quality guard as well. While most people don’t think of Villanova as a defensive team, they have really upped the ante on the defensive end this year. The Wildcats are 11th in the nation in field goal percentage defense, and seventh in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense.
