The Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Pittsburgh Panthers tonight in a Big East showdown of top 25 teams. Tip-off from the Petersen Events Center is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Notre Dame was able to avenge an earlier loss to Marquette this month with an 80-75 victory this past Saturday as a 3 ½-point home favorite. This followed a 66-58 win over Cincinnati as a 4 ½-point home favorite last Wednesday night. The Irish are currently 16-4 straight-up overall and 8-7 against the spread. They are 5-3 SU in the Big East.

Ben Hansbrough leads the team in points with 16.4 per game and assists with 3.9, while Tim Abromaitis leads in rebounds with 6.7 per game and is averaging 14.9 points. Notre Dame is shooting 45.2 percent from the field and averaging 75 points a game.

Pittsburgh should move up in the rankings today with its 74-66 victory over then-No. 3 Syracuse last Monday as a 6 ½-point home favorite. The Panthers ran their overall record to 19-1 SU and 8-7 ATS with an 80-50 win over DePaul as a 16-point road favorite on Saturday. They are now 7-0 SU in the conference.

Pitt’s offense is powered by Ashton Gibbs’ team-high 15.9 points per game and Brad Wanamaker’s 12.7 points and 5.6 assists. It is ranked first in the nation in both rebounds (43) and assists (19.9) a game and is averaging 80 points a game.

There is just too much depth and firepower on this Pittsburgh team for the Irish to handle even with the 10 ½-points.

Trends:

NOTRE are 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 Mon. games.
Under is 17-5 in NOTRE last 22 road games.
Under is 19-6-1 in NOTRE last 26 vs. Big East.
PITT are 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 Mon. games.
Over is 12-5 in PITT last 17 overall.

The Pick: Pittsburgh -10 ½
