This game kicks of the PAC 10 tournament at the Staples Center in Los Angeles tonight.
Oregon won both regular season matchups covering both times including an OT victory up in Pullman.
The only way either of these teams is extending their season is by winning this tournament. Both are extreme longshots based on what we have seen this season thus far. If there is an advantage it likely goes to the Ducks who have beaten Washington State twice already this season including the season finale last Saturday. in that game Oregon shot 50%, a rarity for a team that has struggled to score this season as compared to others. Similarly down are the numbers for Tajuan Porter. It seems like he has been a Duck forever and this is his worst season yet.
He has always been a streaky player and If he want to shine up his legacy he needs to explode in this game and force another one for the Ducks. Call me sentimental but I think he has one more spurt in him. 
The Cougars downgraded their expectations coming into the season due to the loss of their coach but when they started strong there was a real sense of optimism in a down year for the PAC 10. That faded quickly and this team has been miserable down the stretch winning only 2 of their last 10 games. They have maybe the best player in the conference in Klay Thompson but the supporting cast is inconsistent and Thompson is often required to force the action. Under coach Bennett this was one of the best defensive teams in the country.
New coach Ken Bone prefers a more offensive style but based on results this has not been a smooth transition. It is hard to believe that they have any sort of a run left in them.
