Wolfpack vs Hurricanes ACC Tourney Spread/Handicapping

The Wolfpack were able to get the game flowing and had a relatively easy time in beating Virginia, beating by 20 a team they lost to earlier in the season.

N.C. State

Now it is Miami, coincidentally the team they played after Virginia the last time too.  That game was one point loss at home, part of a three game slide.

If this team is peaking at the right time than another victory could be in the offing.

I like both of these teams.

Against Virginia three point ace Scott Wood found the range hitting 7 of 12 triples.  They also owned the boards with both C.J. Leslie and Richard Howell both grabbing double digit rebounds.  Based on recruiting rankings N.C. State is probably the more talented team but Miami is more experienced.

If Wood is not hot again they are going to need more scoring from Leslie and point guard Lorenzo Brown.

Short number here based on the quality of the two teams and how closely they played each other earlier in the season.  I have been hot and cold on N.C. State as they have been a tough team to figure out.

Either team can win this one and I like the way they beat Virginia running away yesterday. [ad-6571516]

Miami

The Hurricanes may have lost 3 of their last 5 games but they still claimed the regular season ACC crown.  Most are expecting Duke to come away as conference champs this week but I like Miami’s chances if they play each other.

I actually think Miami has a harder time matching up with N.C. State, who has good counters for them on both in the inside and the perimeter.  Miami is looking to rev back up for a tourney run.

Point guard Shane Larkin is their youngest starter but is probably their most valuable player too.  He was fantastic against Boston College in the last round, leading the team with 20 points.

The Hurricanes got off of a poor start and were actually down at the half against B.C. It was just a couple of points but it could have been worse.  Coming back against more talented teams is much more challenging.

Miami may have peaked too soon.  This team was not only on the top of the conference standings but also the national rankings too.

Now they are looking to get their mojo back, The problem is so is N.C. State and I think they may have figured it out sooner.

Neutral site might be enough to swing the game in their favour.
