NCAAB Sports Betting – No.6 Texas vs. No. 12 Villanova

The sixth-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-1 SU, 3-3 ATS, 3-3 O/U) have won three straight games in the BetUS Sportsbook but have failed to cover the spread for NCAA college basketball online betting enthusiasts in each of their last two contests. The 12th-ranked Villanova Wildcats (8-0 SU, 3-2 ATS, 1-4 O/U) are off to their best start since getting off to a 10-0 start back in 2005-06.

Tonight both teams will look to extend their winning ways when they meet at Madison Square Garden for the annual Jimmy V Classic.

Texas held off a late surge to defeat UCLA 68-64 on Thursday, but failed to cover the spread for backers as a 6-point home favorite in the BetUS Sportsbook.

Senior guard A.J. Abrams scored a game-high 31 points on 9-for-18 shooting, draining five 3-pointers in the process while junior forward Damion James added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

“Coming back from the Notre Dame and winning one like this was big for us,” Longhorns coach Rick Barnes said. “Our guys made plays at the end. When we get settled into our defense, we’re a pretty hard team to score against. … We talked about going out there to scrap.”

The Wildcats are coming off an emphatic 93-57 rout of Houston Baptist on Thursday as junior point guard Scottie Reynolds scored a team-high 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting while senior guard Corey Stokes added 22 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field.

“A lot of people say we haven’t really had a test, we haven’t really played anybody,” said Reynolds. “I think every time we step on the floor we have the mind-set that we’re playing for each other; we’re playing for our coaches.”

“We’re 8-0, who knows what that means? Thirty teams could be better,” Villanova coach Jay Wright said. “We could talk about it all we want. We’re going to know where we are.”

NCAAB Odds

Texas -3 -110
Villanova +3 -110

Analysis: The Villanova Wildcats may be a perfect 8-0 entering tonight’s contest, but the fact that they’ve been beating up on small schools with mediocre basketball programs is going to come back to haunt them tonight against a talented Longhorns team.

Take Texas to cover the spread narrowly with the outright win in New York.
