Kansas St. Wildcats vs. Oklahoma St. Cowboys Gambling Prediction & CBB Preview

Wildcats vs Cowboys CBB Basketball Spread/Handicapping

Is it possible that Kansas State, with supposedly awful coach Bruce Weber, is really a top 10 team? Based on their body of work so far it is tough to argue with as they look to close out the season on a tremendous run – they have won 10 of their last 11 heading into Saturday.

Kansas State

Just how they do it a bit of a mystery to me but you can’t argue with the results.  They are looking at a nice seeding, and can’t be ruled out of a #1 if they win the conference tournament.

The secret could very easily be guard/forward Rodney McGruder who for me is easily the most valuable player in America.  Though only 6’4” he leads the team in scoring and rebounding, as well as clutch performances.  After Macgruder the scoring support gets a little spotty, though Angel Rodriguez has emerged as one of the craftier point guards in the Big 12.  For this team to go on a run though they need someone else to shoulder a bigger load.

This should be a good battle between two teams that despite rankings are still looking to prove they belong among the national elite.  That especially applies to K-State who many thought would crater without their intense head coach.  So far so good and I like them in underdog roles as this team seems to relish that status.

Oklahoma State

The Big 12 might not be as top heavy as the Big Ten but with these two teams and Kansas it is very tough at the top.  [ad-6571516]

The Cowboys are looking to rebound after losing at Iowa State and they are also looking to validate their position as an elite team in the conference.  They are probably more talented though not as fiery as the Wildcats.  They have just the kind of players to slow down McGruder too.

That role could fall to anyone of Marcus Smart, Markel Brown or LeBryan Nash – a trio of perimeter players with NBA calibre talent.  Smart is what makes this team go, one of the most versatile and productive players in the country.  However, one of the reasons the team has been really strong of late is the play inside of Michael Cobbins.  Cobbins does the dirty work inside, rebounding, blocking shots while also being efficient with his opportunities – hitting a high percentage of his shots.

I have liked this team all season so I am pleased to see them in their current form.  However, they have been a disappointment to bettors, especially at home where a 14-2 SU record translates into just 7-7 ATS.  I wish the number was a little smaller but I am not sure it is going to go down as gametime approaches.
