Kansas Jayhawks vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders Gambling & NCAA Handicapping Prediction

KU vs Texas Tech CBB Picks

The Jayhawks took out their frustration of losing to Kansas State on TCU winning by 30. This one is on the road where the Jayhawks have struggled this season but it looks like another lamb to the slaughter at Texas Tech. [ad-4468020]

Kansas

The Red Raiders are outgunned regardless but now it looks like Kansas will have freshman center Joel Embiid back in the lineup for this one.

He gives them the ability to be a very good defensive team.

With or without Embiid the Jayhawks have plenty of talent. In their last game PF Perry Ellis had his best game ever scoring 32 points and making an amazing 13 of 15 shots from the floor. He has old school pro moves and though not flashy can be very effective.

I am not sure he is star potential but I like the way everything falls into place when Andrew Wiggins does not have to be the focal point of the offense. As a complementary player he can be much more effective.

Kansas generally crushes in games like this but this Jayhawks team has not developed as much as coach Bill Self would like. On the road, against a team that has made a habit of being pesky I would be careful not to give away too many points.

If you can get them under -10 then you are probably safe, beyond that think about some other games on the board

Texas Tech

It is amazing that Texas Tech has a better conference record than both Baylor and Oklahoma State. That doesn’t make this team a contender but it means that they might be a bit better than we originally thought they would be. They have won three of 4 and more than held their own at Iowa State losing by 6 on Saturday.

They have covered in their last 3 and 4 of 5 so hopefully you have taken notice.

There is no doubt Kansas has next level stars but the Red Raiders have a pair of productive forwards in Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert. Both are 6’7” and average more than 10 points and 5 rebounds per game. One of them is likely going to be responsible for locking up Wiggins so they are going to need.

The are also going to need a productive game from Dejan Kravic, who is their most productive legitimate big man.

The Red Raiders have been a big surprise but it is one thing to beat enigmatic teams like Baylor and OSU and another to knock off the Jayhawks who just don’t lose very often in B12 play.

With an upset seemingly out of the question the best Texas Tech can hope for is a covering performance.

Look to get them at +15 or better or take a pass.

Spread Pick: Kansas -8
O/U Pick: N/A
Score Prediction: Kansas 80 – Texas Tech 67
