Records:
Kansas: 19-1
Kansas State: 17-3

The No. 11 Kansas State Wildcats prepare to battle with cross-state rival No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday evening at the Fred Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas.

The last time these two met was on Feb 14, 2009, with the Jayhawks overcoming a 16-point first-half deficit on their way to beating the Wildcats 85-74. Kansas is 24-2 against Kansas State in the Big 12 era.

KSU is coming off a thrilling 76-74 win over No. 24 Baylor on Tuesday night. Junior guard Jacob Pullen led his team with 25 points, including six 3-pointers and the game-winning free throws with eight seconds remaining. Denis Clemente scored 17 points while Rodney McGruder had 10 in the win. The Wildcats are now 4-0 against Top 25 teams this season as they notched their second win away from home in Big 12 play. The KSU offense is fueled by a potent backcourt of Pullen and senior Denis Clemente. Pullen, who had struggled with his shooting throughout Big 12 play, has shown signs of improvement over the past week. The Wildcats have has solid rebounding, particularly on the offensive glass. However, Kansas State did surrendered 14 offensive rebounds to Baylor.

The Jayhawks’ Cole Aldrich scored 12 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had seven blocked shots as he helped Kansas dismantle Missouri in an 84-65 win on Monday night. The victory extended the Jayhawks current win streak to five while preserving the nation’s longest home winning streak to 54 games. Marcus Morris scored 17 points while twin brother Markieff Morris grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Kansas has outscored their opponents by double digits 17 times, while allowing the opposition to shoot just 35.9 percent overall and 31.6 percent from behind the arc.

KSU will need better outside shooting from Pullen and Clemente while containing the Kansas’ Cole Aldrich if they want to win this one. The Jayhawks have a potent, versatile offense and a tenacious defense and make few mistakes as their 19-1 record indicates.
