Wisconsin will meet Michigan State in the first semifinal Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State swept the season series between these two, but Wisconsin is never an easy team to beat. Expect a tight battle in this one.

Wisconsin was led by an unexpected hero in their win over Indiana Friday afternoon. Rob Wilson came from out of nowhere to score 30 points. The senior had never scored more than 13 points in a game before, but Friday was his day. As a team the Badgers knocked down a Big Ten Tournament record tying 13 three-point shots.

Josh Gasser hit 3 out of 4 from deep, and he has been the team’s best shooter all season. Jordan Taylor has been struggling with his shot, but he is still a great point guard for this team. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Badgers control the tempo and allow fewer points than any other team in the nation.

Michigan State rolled to a 92-75 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes early Friday afternoon. The Spartans shot better than 65% for much of the game, before “cooling off” to finish at 58.2% from the floor. Draymond Green was his usual self as he dominated for 21 points and ten boards. Adreian Payne has been playing great of late, and he made 7 of 8 shots from the floor to finish with 16 points.

The Spartans had seven guys finish with at least eight points in that game. Brandon Dawsen is out for the year with a knee injury, and that will definitely hurt the team’s chances to go deep in March. Luckily, the Spartans do have quite a bit of depth. Michigan State leads the Big Ten in rebounding.

Both teams play very good defense. Michigan State will want to get some points in transition, while Wisconsin wants to use up the whole shot clock.

I think Michigan State wins another close one.

Prediction: Michigan State 64 Wisconsin 58
