Miami has only been to the Sweet 16 one time and that was 13 years ago.

Illinois will have to play solid perimeter defense tonight, as the Canes have made 24 3-point shots in their last 2 games shooting a 3-pt FG% of 54%.

The Fighting Illini took a big halftime lead in the Colorado game and while they went cold in the 2nd half they still came out with a win. They only shot 30.8% from the floor, but luckily they played solid defense holding Colorado to only 33.3% shooting.

Much like Illinois Miami has to play good perimeter D, as in the Colorado game the G trio of D.J. Richardson, Brandon Paul, and Tracy Abrams, who combined to score 44 points, they were the only players that scored in double figures in the game. [ad-6571516]

Miami had an easy win over Pacific in their first game in the tournament jumping out to a 22-point halftime lead. They shot 46.2% from the field and held Pacific to only 33.3% shooting.

Miami leading scorer Shane Larkin (14.4 ppg) only had 10 points in the Pacific game on 2/8 shooting, but backcourt mate Durand Scott stepped up to score 21 shots and he buried 5 of his 8 3-pointers.

6’11” C Kenny Kadji (13.1 ppg 6.9 rpg) only played 19 minutes in the Pacific game and the Illini have to keep him from dominating the paint, as Illinois only ranks 218th in the nation in rebounding. Miami has 4 players that all are in the rotation that are at least 6’10”.

In some betting trends for this game Illinois is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Miami is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and they have an Over record of 7-2 in their last 9 games.

Jason’s Pick: Illinois is simply outmatched in this game and Miami will not have a problem winning and they will also cover the spread.
