Big 12 Conference: NCAA Basketball Gambling Predictions

Both Baylor (+250) and Kansas State (+250) have the best odds to win the Big 12 this season and with good reason, as each has a potential player of the year. Kind of strange that Kansas does not have the best odds, but they lost a ton of talent to the NBA and will be a very young team. There are 4 teams in the Big 12 that were in the pre-season top 25 in Kansas State, Kansas, Missouri, and Baylor.

Kansas State (+250) has the reigning Big 12 Player of the Year in G Jacob Pullen and the Wildcats will have one of the best backcourts in the nation. The F duo of Curtis Kelly and Jamar Samuels each averaged at least 11 ppg last season and with the addition of 6’10” Freddy Aspirilla Kansas State will also have a legit frontcourt. Last season the Wildcats made it to the Elite 8 and anything less than a Final 4 appearance may be seem like a disappointment.

Baylor (+250) is lucky that star player LaceDarius Dunn is only suspended for 3 games because of his off-court legal issues. Dunn averaged 20 ppg last season and even though the Bears lost 3 starters from last season’s team they have a solid squad and incoming freshman Perry Jones may be a one-and done star headed to the NBA. F Quincy Acy is back and one of the best defensive players in the league and he and 6’11” Perry Jones III lead a solid frontcourt.

Kansas (+300) lost a few guys to the riches of the NBA, but they landed one of the best recruits in the nation in G Josh Shelby. They have a few talented young guys and F Marcus Morris (13 ppg last season) will be counted on for veteran leadership. Still they will miss Sherron Collins, Xavier Henry and Cole Aldrich, who combined to score for 40 ppg last season.

Texas (+300) fell apart last season, but they have high hopes with 2 prized recruits in 6’8” Tristan Thompson and PG Cory Joseph. Even though the Longhorns lost their 3 top scorers they have talent and F Jordan Hamilton may have a breakout season. Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Missouri (+600) is a very deep and talented squad and their big gun is F JUCO transfer Ricardo Ratliffe. Last season the Tigers made it to the 2nd round of the Big Dance and they return 10 players and Ratliffe, who is the best transfer in the country. The return guys of Kim English, Michael Dixon and Justin Safford, along with Ratliffe have Mizzou fans excited about this season.

Texas A&M (+650) lost their top scorer in Donald Sloan and top rebounder in Bryan Davis, but while the Aggies still have a good shot at a Big Dance invite for the 6th straight season, but winning the Big 12 with what they lost is a long shot. G B.J. Holmes will be counted on to man the backcourt and F David Loubeau the frontcourt. Prized recruit Tobi Oyedej was killed in an auto accident and his loss will also hurt, as he was expected to start right away.

Pick: Kansas State – Pullen is one of the best players in the nation and they are simply stacked up top and down low and this is the Wildcats season to break through and beat their in state rival Kansas for the Big 12 title.
