The Pac-10 Tournament moves into the semifinal round on Friday at Staples Center in Los Angeles as one of the two hometown teams, the USC Trojans, take on the top seeded Arizona Wildcats.

USC is the fourth seed in this tournament and is coming off a 70-58 victory over fifth seed California in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Leading scorer Nikola Vucevic was limited to just seven points in the victory. The Trojans benefited from 16 points off the bench by Maurice Jones to help offset Vucevic’s limited productivity. The Trojans also shot 47.1 percent from three-point range in the win.

Arizona advanced into the quarters with a 78-69 victory over ninth seeded Oregon State on Thursday. Derrick Williams, the Wildcat forward and leading regular season scorer in the Pac-10 Conference, poured in 22 points for the Wildcats. Williams shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, as Arizona shot 52.4 percent from three-point range.

These two teams split their two meetings during the regular season. In the first game played at the McKale Center back in late January, the Wildcats defended their home court with an 82-73 victory. Williams led the way for Arizona with a game-high 20 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field. Williams made all three of his three-point attempts, and the Wildcats shot 61.2% from the floor.

The second game was played at the Galen Center in February, and the Trojans mugged Arizona 65-57. Williams was held to a season-low eight points, while Vucevic scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, the 17th of 20 double-doubles he has recorded this season.

Following the departure of freshman Bryce Jones from the squad, USC head coach Kevin O’Neill has maintained just a seven-man rotation for Southern Cal. Arizona will want to try to take advantage of that by getting USC to commit some early fouls and go deeper into the bench than they want to.

CBB Betting Trends:

USC are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 Fri. games.
Under is 8-2 in USC last 10 Fri. games.
Under is 15-7 in USC last 22 neutral site games.
Underdog is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings.
Over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Arizona – Tournament time is the time that the best players around the country step up their performances or their teams usually go home.

If Thursday’s performance was just a warm-up act, Williams and the Wildcats may just be getting started.
