The Texas Longhorns will roll into Stillwater on Wednesday night looking for their sixth straight win and third consecutive victory over the struggling OSU Cowboys who have a perfect 9-0 record at home this season, and have won 13 straight inside Gallagher-Iba Arena dating back to last season’s 72-60 loss against the ninth-ranked Longhorns.

The Cowboys have gone cold dropping three of their last four including a 76-57 shellacking by Baylor their last time out, after starting the 2010-11 campaign 15-2.

Oklahoma State lost this game because Baylor controlled shooting and rebounding. The Bears shot 60 percent from the field and got by the Cowboys who had a pitiful 39. Baylor used their advantage on the boards to create more possessions and shots with a total of 40 rebounds to only 19 from Oklahoma State. Markel Brown did his best to keep the Cowboys in it with 16 points in 34 minutes. Matt Pilgrim topped both teams with five steals.

Meanwhile, Texas is 4-0 in Big 12 play and ranked in the top-10 nationally. The Longhorns are coming off a 74-63 win over Kansas on Saturday in Lawrence. They are led by sophomore Jordan Hamilton who is averaging 19.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He is joined in the frontcourt by freshman forward Tristan Thompson who is averaging 13.1 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per contest. Also averaging double figures for the ‘Horns are senior forward Gary Johnson (11.8 ppg) and freshman guard Cory Joseph (11.2 ppg). Texas’ other top scorer is sophomore guard J’Covan Brown who is averaging 9.8 points per game off the bench.

Cowboys lost 69-59 the last time the two teams met back on Feb 24, 2010, and trail in the overall series 24-11 since 1980.

The ‘Boys are obviously much better at home, but rebounding muscle will play a big part of this one, and with OSU being the smaller squad they will need a lot from the forward duo of Marshall Moses and Darrell Williams who will do battle with Johnson and Thompson.

J.P. Olukemi will need a big offensive game as well to offset Texas’ Hamilton who poses matchup problems for any team that faces the Longhorns.

I expect the ’Horns to end the Cowboys amazing home win streak in this one.
