In a battle between two teams that will be looking to back in the win column, the Kentucky Wildcats will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs in an SEC clash on Tuesday night.

Mississippi State will venture into the “eRUPPtion” zone as a one of those teams that has just totally been forgotten about, and pretty much counted out of this year’s tourney after losing four of its last seven including a 65-62loss in Auburn on Saturday.

This one looked good at halftime, and Mississippi State was up 36-24. But nothing went their way in the second half, and Auburn closed it out. The Bulldogs just did not play up to expectations, dropping one they probably should have won as the Tigers devastated the Bulldogs from three-point range, while taking advantage of 16 Miss State turnovers.

Dee Bost was the lone bright spot against the Tigers with 22 points, including 12 from three-point range. Renardo Sidney added a game-high 13 rebounds.

A win at Rupp Arena would do wonders for the old resume for March Madness.

Standing in their way will be the Wildcats who have themselves fallen on hard times as of late losing three of their last four including being upset by Vanderbilt, 81-77, in conference action on Saturday.

Terrence Jones led the losing effort for the Wildcats with 25 points, but the Commodores beat Kentucky by winning the three point shooting battle.

The ‘Cats might be in some trouble if they don’t win at least three or four more games as they have now fallen to 17-7, with a conference of 5-5 in the SEC, slipping to 5th place.

However, the Wildcats, though, not incredibly deep, have a solid group of starts that play fantastic. These last four road losses have all come by three points or fewer, and with just one or two more made buckets here and there, we could be talking about a potential No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Matt’s Free Pick:  Kentucky– MSU just doesn’t match up here, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any fight left. While I tend to think this game could put the Bulldogs away from good, as Kentucky learned from its tilt with Vandy, nothing is a for sure deal.
