ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Wisconsin (16-0) is off to its best start in school history and will aim to defeat Indiana for the 13th consecutive time on Tuesday. The Badgers beat the Hoosiers twice last season, including once in the Big Ten tournament semifinals.

This season the Badgers are rolling behind freshman forward Nigel Hayes who is emerging as a force off the bench, averaging 6.8 points and shooting 52.3 percent from the field.

Over the past five games Hayes is averaging 13 points and put up 11 in last Wednesday’s 95-70 win over Illinois , behind third leading scorer, Ben Brust who scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures over the visiting Illini.

The Badgers committed just four turnovers against Illinois and lead the nation in fewest per game at 8.2.

Meanwhile , it’s been a different sort off season for the Hoosiers as they are in transition mode after losing four senior starters off last season’s powerhouse team.

Like most of its games this season, Indiana (11-5) had to rally to defeat Penn State on Saturday, behind a solid effort from second leading scorer Noah Vonleh, who scored 19 points and hit a pair of decisive late free throws as the visiting Hoosiers grabbed their first Big Ten victory with their sixth straight win over the Nittany Lions.

Once again Indy had to rely on its success at the charity stripe, hitting 29-of-35 versus Penn State. With those, the Hoosiers have made 20 or more free throws in four of its last five games.

Still, Indiana, which leads the Big Ten in turnovers, committed 13 miscues against the Nittany Lions– its lowest total in five contests.

Matt’s Free Pick: Wisconsin

The Hooisers would require a superb performance to knock off the Badgers, who can tie the school program record for consecutive wins with a victory at Assembly Hall.

Indiana’s last victory over Wisconsin came on Jan. 31, 2007 when the Badgers were ranked second in the nation.

And although they are ranked four this time around, I would still put my money on Wisconsin to cover the spread and then some in this one.
