As it stands they are game behind the Jazz for the eighth and final playoff spot, bit that could change by Wednesday as the outcome of their bout in Utah could decide the race –or just make it much more interesting?

So, if the Suns beat the Jazz to pull even for the eighth spot on Tuesday, they will set the table for a nail biters, against the Spurs on Wednesday. The Jazz would be getting a tumbling Trail Blazer team at home. so Phoenix will be fighting for their playoff lives.

Granted the Spurs have nothing left to play for, so they may rest some key players.

At least that’s what Phoenix hopes.

If the Suns are going to crawl back into this at the last minute, they are going to need a couple of heroic performances from one of the best players to ever put on a Phoenix uniform in Steve Nash. He is averaging nearly eleven assists on this season.

The remarkable thing about that is that number is actually down from a season ago. That should tell you just how good Nash really is.  [soliloquy id=”82219″]

On the other side, with the Spurs now having locked up the overall one seed in the West, they may actually choose to rest stars such as Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.

If they were to do that, the Suns can feasibly beat the team that they would be matched up with in round one of the playoffs, if they manage to steal the eighth seed.

So who will it be?

Here’s a look at the scenarios…

1) Jazz beat Suns – Utah clinches playoff berth.
2) Suns beat Jazz; Suns lose to Spurs and Jazz beat Trail Blazers- Utah clinches
3) Suns beat Jazz and beat Spurs – Suns clinch
4) Suns beat Jazz and lose to Spurs; Jazz lose to Trail Blazers – Suns clinch

Free Pick : Phoenix- If the Suns lose, Wednesday’s regular season finale could be Nash’s final game in Phoenix — he will become a free agent this summer and is reportedly seeking a three-year deal.

I believe he will add more commas to his worth, helping the Suns pull off the nearly impossible.
