NBA: Cavs tested again

The Cleveland Cavaliers barely survived in Atlanta on Sunday and now have another tough test at the Miami Heat.

Sportsbook.com has Cleveland as 3 ½-point favorites with a Total of 186.5. The game will be played at 7:30 pm ET

Cleveland (46-12, 37-21 ATS) is playing their fourth road game in five nights, as the Cavs erased a five-point deficit with 1:42 remaining to win at Atlanta 88-87 last night. This has been no ordinary road trip either for Cleveland, with every opponent well-positioned to make the postseason.

LeBron James drew a foul with 1.6 seconds left and made one of two free throws and the Cavaliers survived. Cleveland picked up a game on Boston for the Eastern Conference lead and has the same amount of losses as the Lakers, who have dropped two in a row.

Miami Heat stud Dwyane Wade, after missing 31 games a season ago, is the leading scorer in the NBA at 29 PPG. He is coming off a week that saw him post a career best 50 points and five days later put up 46 more.

In the two games in-between those gargantuan totals, he helped his teammates score by dishing out 26 assists. Wade couldn’t do it all on his own, as Miami (31-27, 26-32 ATS) was 2-2 for the week, maintaining fifth slot in the East, one game behind Atlanta in the loss column.

Miami’s come from behind 120-115 win over New York on Saturday included a 19-0 spurt that had the Heat melt a Knicks lead that eventually disappeared. Miami is only 1-8 ATS in home games after a win by six points or less this season.

The Cavs are fourth in the league on the road at 20-11 (17-14 ATS) and are virtually unfazed by no rest with an 11-2 and 10-3 ATS record, winning by an astonishing 10.8 points per game.

Miami is 20-10 (13-17 ATS) at home and 4-5 straight-up and ATS as a home underdog. The Heat have won eight of their last nine at home against Cleveland, with five covers.

Of the last 22 games played in Miami between these squads, 16 have gone Under. The Cavs are 21-9 Under in road games off a road win and the Heat are 11-2 Under versus good shooting teams making 46% or more of their shots in the second half of the season over the last two years.
