The Miami Heat will look to make it six straight wins when they take on the Charlotte Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena tonight. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast on NBA League Pass.

There was some minor cause for concern when Miami got off to a slow start, but that has long since been forgotten after the Heats’ Big Three have this team rolling like a well-oiled machine. They have lost just once since the end of November and have run their record to 26-9 straight-up (17-18 against the spread). Miami has a four-game lead over Orlando in the Southeast Division and is just a half game behind Boston for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James are both averaging over 24 points and close to seven rebounds a game, while Chris Bosh is averaging 18.6 points and 8.2 boards per game. These three are each averaging around 36 minutes per game and have become the dominant force that everyone expected before the season started.

The Heat are ninth in the league with 101.8 points per game, but giving up an average of just 93.3 points, which is third best in the NBA. Miami is shooting 47.6 percent from the field, second only to the Celtics. Its 38.3 percent shooting from three-point range is eighth best overall and it is hitting 76.6 percent of its free-throws.

Charlotte’s run to the playoffs last season is just a distant memory as it has only managed to win 11 games so far this season. The Bobcats are a dismal 11-20 SU and 13-16-2 ATS. They are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games. They are 13 games behind Miami in the division and in 10th place in the conference.

They have five players averaging in double-figures led by Stephen Jackson’s 18.3 points per game, but are ranked third from last in scoring with just 92.6 points per game. Gerald Wallace leads the team in rebounds with 8.2 per game and D.J. Augustin is averaging a team-high 5.9 assists per game.

Defensively, Charlotte has not played all that bad. It is holding its opponents to 97.4 points per game and is third in the league in blocked shots. Unfortunately, this has not been able to successfully compensate for an inconsistent offense that has plagued this team all season long.

Miami is 4-1 ATS in its last five road games and 3-2 ATS in its last five games overall. The total is 3-2-1 in its last six games.
Charlotte is 2-4 ATS in its last six games at home and 1-4 ATS in its last five games overall. The total stayed ‘under’ in eight of its last 10 games.

Head-to-head, the Bobcats have won three out of the last five games SU and are 4-0-1 ATS. In the only previous meeting this season in early November, the Heat won 95-87 as an 11 ½-point home favorite.

This time around Miami is playing far better and Charlotte seems to be stuck in neutral, just spinning its wheels. Do not be afraid to give up 8 ½ points on the road as the Heat rolls to another big win.

The Pick: Miami -8 ½
