The Miami Heat are stuck in the middle tier of the Eastern Conference and unfortunately for them, all it equates to is an early first-round playoff exit. The real question for the Heat will be in the offseason and whether Dwyane Wade decides to stay or whether he decides to go. Considering that the Heat are toiling right now, he might be leaning towards leaving.

The Celtics are in the Eastern Conference elite but injuries are dragging them down. The Celtics have played part of the season without Kevin Garnett and while he’s finally back, the Celtics will now how to live without Paul Pierce for a little while.

Pierce sprained his foot in the Celtics last contest on Monday and he is going to be day-to-day for a while. While the Celtics have plenty of depth, missing a heart and soul player like Pierce will hurt.

What Is Happening With The Heat:

The Heat are struggling right now, to say the least. They have lost four of their last five games to fall to .500 and to the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

A couple of losses came on a three-game road trip but a couple of losses also came at home. The Heat simply aren’t an elite team and unless Wade is going crazy in a certain game, the Heat just aren’t going to beat an elite team.

Wade hasn’t had much help lately. He’s battling back spasms and it seems that everyone on the team is nicked up. Michael Beasley has a banged up knee, Jermaine O’Neal is also dealing with back spasms and point guard Mario Chalmers has a sprained thumb.

Mentally and physically, this is just a hurting team right now.

What The Celtics Have To Do To Win:

The Celtics are battling some injury woes and struggles of their own. The Celtics are just 4-6 in their last 10 games and with Pierce out, it might not be getting much better.

The Celtics haven’t looked elite in this recent stretch as they have struggled against the better teams in the league. They have had losses to teams like Orlando, but they have managed to dispose of teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Wizards.

Beating the Heat at home should not be a problem.

The Heat are fading fast and they are just 11-12 on the road. Traveling to the TD Banknorth Garden isn’t exactly a cure for struggling teams.

With Garnett in the lineup, the Celtics will pound the Heat inside and play defense enough to get the win.

Pick: Celtics
