San Antonio Spurs vs. L.A. Clippers Preview

On the season the Spurs are 0-5 ATS and they have an O/U record of 1-4 and the Clippers are 0-6 ATS and they have an Under record of 4-2.

This season the Clippers are 3-1 at home and the Spurs are 0-2 on the road.

In their last games the Clippers beat the Portland Trailblazers 106-102 and the Spurs lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 100-99.

The Spurs are off to a bad start and look to avoid their worst start in 6 seasons with a win tonight in La La Land. Something has got to give in this game, as these teams have combined for 11 games so far and are 0-11 ATS.

The Clippers are coming off a solid win over Portland and they are a 2.5-point betting favorite in their house tonight. While the L.A. offense has been solid this season the same cannot be said about their defense, which ranks 26th in the league in opponents’ points allowed.

The struggling defense of the Clippers may just what the Spurs need. They are struggling on offense ranking in the bottom 1/3rd of the league in scoring (92.8 ppg), field-goal percentage (43.2), 3-point percentage (31.5) and turnovers per game (18.2).

Last season these 2 teams split their season series in L.A. with each winning a game.

The Spurs rank 10th in the league on defense and it is no secret that the 2 players they have to worry about is Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. Paul has 5 straight double-doubles and Griffin leads the Clippers in scoring and is averaging 25.7 ppg and 12 rpg in his last 6 games against San Antonio.

The Big 3 of Tim Duncan, who scored a season low 11 points in the loss to New Orleans, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili still lead the defending champion Spurs.

Kawhi Leonard scored 14 points in the New Orleans game after struggling in the previous 3 and he needs to help the Big 3 out in the scoring department.

The Spurs need to play solid perimeter D on J.J. Reddick, who lit up the Blazers for 30 points after only averaging 10.2 ppg in his previous 5 games.

Going with the Clippers in this one at home, as their offense will be too much for the Spurs to deal with.
