The Los Angeles Lakers will try and snap a rare three-game losing streak when they face the Portland Trail Blazers this Friday night at the Rose Garden. The game is scheduled to tip at 10 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on NBA League Pass.

Los Angeles has lost more games in the last four days then it has in the last seven weeks after a 95-87 setback to Golden State on Wednesday as a six-point road underdog. The recent skid has cost the Lakers a shot at the No.1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs and dropped their overall record on the season to 55-23 straight-up overall and 37-40-1 against the spread.

The Lakers have failed to score more than 90 points in their last three games after averaging 101.4 points a game on the year. Kobe Bryant is still getting his points with 73 in the last three games, but the rest of the team has struggled to keep pace with its season average. LA’s defense has not been an issue and has actually stepped things up by holding its opponents to 95 points or less in its last six games.

Portland clinched a spot in the postseason with a 108-87 victory over Golden State this past Tuesday as a 10-point home favorite. The win lifted its record to 45-33 SU (40-35-3 ATS) heading into Thursday night’s game against Utah. The Trail Blazers are currently in seventh-place in the West with five games left to play and could easily be matched up against the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs.

LaMarcus Aldridge has been the main force for Portland this season with a team-high 21.9 points and 8.7 rebounds a game. Gerald Wallace is averaging 15.1 points a game since coming over from Charlotte and Andre Miller leads the team in assists with 6.9 a game. The Trail Blazers are averaging 96.7 points a game.

Head-to-head, the Lakers have won four of the last five games SU including all three meetings this season. The beat the Blazers 106-101 in overtime as a 2 ½-point favorite the last time they played at the Rose Garden with the total going ‘over’ the 191 point line.

It is hard to see the Lakers losing four in row especially against a Portland team that will be playing its fourth game in the last six days, so stick with LA to win and cover the spread.

NBA Gambling Trends:
LAL are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games.
Under is 20-6 in LAL last 26 Fri. games.
LAL are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
POR are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games.
POR are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall.
Underdog is 21-8 ATS in the last 29 meetings.
LAL are 10-25 ATS in the last 35 meetings.

The Pick: Los Angeles -1.5

Hello David Schwab,

I read your articles often and couldn’t help but wonder what happened with your Lakers/Trail Blazers write up. Portland did indeed clinch a playoff berth on April 5th like you posted, but they actually lost to the Warriors at home 108-87. Despite losing at home, they still clinched. What’s the scoop, ‘mang?
