The Houston Rockets will try and stave off elimination from the postseason when they take on the New Orleans Hornets tonight at the New Orleans Arena. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be available on NBA League Pass.

It is do or die for Houston as it trails Memphis by three games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference with just four games left to play. The Rockets are coming off a devastating 104-101 loss to Sacramento on Tuesday as an 8 ½-point home favorite that dropped their overall record to 41-37 straight-up and 41-35-2 against the spread.

Kevin Martin put up 30 points in the loss to the Kings which was well above his team-high 23.5 point season average, but it was not enough to avoid the loss. Houston is third in the league in scoring with 106.2 points a game, but defensively it is ranked 22nd in the NBA in points allowed; giving up an average of 104.2.

New Orleans can clinch a spot in the playoffs with a win tonight as it is currently in seventh-place in the West with a 3 ½-game lead over the Rockets. The Hornets have won six of their last 10 games including a 108-96 victory over Indiana this past Sunday as a 4 ½-point home favorite. They are now 44-33 SU on the year and 37-38-2 ATS.

The Hornets lost David West for the season with a knee injury, but Chris Paul and Carl Landry have done a good job in picking up the slack in his absence. Paul is averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 9.8 assists a game and Landry is averaging 12.4 points and 3.9 rebounds. Trevor Ariza has also stepped up his game with 19 points in the win over the Pacers.

Head-to-head, New Orleans has won five of the last six games SU, but lost to the Rockets 91-89 in late February as a six-point home favorite. This time around, look for the Hornets to successfully defend their home court as well as lock up a spot in the playoffs with a big win.

NBA Gambling Trends:
Over is 6-2 in HOU last 8 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.

The Pick: New Orleans -3 ½
