NBA Playoffs odds – Portland Trailblazers vs Phoenix Suns, Game 4 preview
Team records:
Phoenix: 54-28 SU, 48-32-2 ATS
Portland: 50-32 SU, 45-35-2 ATS
The Phoenix Suns have taken a 2-1 lead in their NBA Playoffs series after losing Game 1. In fact, it hasn’t even been close, as the Suns have won by an average of 24 points. Can the Trailblazers even the series, or will they fall into a devastating 3-1 hole?
Matchup: Trailblazers at Suns Game 4 (Suns lead 2-1)
Time: Saturday at 4:35 p.m. ET
Venue: Rose Garden
Spread: Phoenix -2.5
Over/Under: 202
Phoenix is rolling. The Suns are 16-5 in their past 21 games, and they’ve been an extremely tough out at the sportsbook, too—the Suns are 7-3 in their last 10 games against the spread. Phoenix faces another two straight games in Portland, which shouldn’t faze the team; the Suns are 6-4 in their last 10 road games against the spread.
The Suns are making it look easy. They never trailed in Game 3 and led by as much as 31 points. Jason Richardson really outdid himself; after scoring 29 pints in Game 2, he followed it up with a 42-point explosion on Thursday night. Steve Nash posted yet another double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.
Amare Stoudemire had another ho-hum night, scoring 20 points—his most in the series thus far.
The Trailblazers look like they’re near the end of the line. Portland is just 5-5 in its last 10 games, not to mention three losses in its last four outings.
They’ve been crushed in two straight games, and sports betting fans can’t trust the Blazers at all, as they’ve covered just four times in their last 10 outings. Home-court advantage is a lost cause, too, as Portland is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 home games.
LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland with 17 points, but the Blazers simply didn’t have it offensively.
A better effort from the free throw line might make a difference; they missed plenty of opportunities by going just 16-28 from the charity stripe. Portland must also do a better job of defending Richardson; he buried eight three-pointers.
That’s a tall order, though, as the Blazers are justifiably occupied with Nash and Stoudemire on “D.”
Suns vs. Blazers Free NBA Playoff Pick
Without Brandon Roy, this looks like a lost season for Portland. Perhaps more importantly, it’s looking like a special season for Phoenix.
The Nash and the Suns have been on the cusp for years—is this their season to break through? Perhaps… but they’ll definitely break through again in Game 4.
Bet on Phoenix.
