Memphis comes off an overtime victory against Phoenix, while the Nets continue to search for an end to their current losing streak.

Memphis

The Grizzlies have played showed some signs of inconsistency over the past 5 games.

While they’ve gone just 2-3 over those 5 games, the Grizzlies still hold on of the top spots in the West. Memphis receives another boost to their already deep team as they’ve acquired SF Jeff Green from the Boston Celtics.

Green is averaging 17.6 points a game to go along with 4.3 rebounds. Grizzlies Vice President, John Hollinger, told the media he is excited to add some youth and fast energy to the lineup. Green is expected to be in the lineup and ready to go on Wednesday.

Green adds to a team that is already averaging 101.8 points a game (14th). He’ll play in the 3 spot for the Grizzlies and add to a starting line up that all average double digit points a game.

This should take a little bit of pressure of PF Zach Randolph and C Marc Gasol who are the only ones grabbing rebounds down low for Memphis. Randolph has been the most impressive this season for the Grizzlies as he’s averaged 16.3 points and 11.6 rebounds a game.

Currently the Grizzlies sit just a .5 game behind Houston for the division lead. On the road this season, Memphis is 11-7 S.U. and holding opponents to just 97.9 points a game.

Brooklyn

After Brooklyn finally got to the .500 mark, it looked like they were not only figuring things out, but also looked poised to make a move up the standings in the Eastern Conference. Now, they’re just trying to find themselves and get back in the win column as they’ve dropped their last 6 games. The latest loss came to the hands of the Houston Rockets in Brooklyn where they allowed 113 points.

The only bright spot found from the loss is that the Nets scored 99 points themselves. For most teams, that wouldn’t be a bright spot. However, the Nets have averaged just 88.8 points a game during this 6 game skid and is struggling to get anything going.

Things go from bad to worse for the Nets as they will be without the presence of Kevin Garnett on Wednesday. Garnett was suspended for his altercation with Dwight Howard on Monday in which he head butted the Rockets C. If anything, Garnett would have been a body down low to defend Randolph or Gasol. They’ll know look to Mason Plumlee to step up and handle the rebounding duties.

Brooklyn is just 8-12 S.U. inside the Barclays Center this season.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Grizzlies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Atlantic.
  • Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Nets are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Wednesday games.
  • Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss.

Free 4* NBA Basketball Pick: Memphis -6

Backing Memphis at this number against a struggling Brooklyn team is the best way to go here.

Memphis 102, Brooklyn 89

Especially with Garnett suspended, Brooklyn will have trouble stopping the bigs down low for Memphis.
