While the Pistons were able to recover from their slow start this season, the 76ers continue to sit in rebuild mode. Both teams come in off a loss, with the 76ers coming on Monday and the Pistons coming yesterday.

Detroit

The Pistons hit the road for the 2nd game of their back-t0-back.

On Tuesday night, the led the Cavaliers for a majority of the 1st half, but coughed up the lead in the 3rd quarter. They managed to keep things interesting, but ultimately fell in the end by 8 points in a 103-95 decision.

The Pistons got their 2nd straight excellent performance from D.J. Augustin, who is replacing injured PG Brandon Jennings, for the remainder of the season. Augustin dropped in 19 points, which comes after his 35 point performance in the previous game. If the Pistons hope to compete in the Eastern Conference, they’ll need similar contributions from Augustin throughout the rest of the season.

The Pistons are keeping themselves in games against quality opponents, but cannot seem to finish games off. A main reason they continue to stay in games is because of their rebounding. C Andre Drummond continues to crash the boards, as he finished with 17 on Tuesday. As a team, the Pistons are 2nd in the league in rebounding with 45.9 rebounds a game.

On the road this season, Detroit is just 10-13.

Philadelphia

Philadelphia was already getting tested with having such a young lineup. That lineup got even more younger last time they took the floor as Michael Carter-Williams missed the contest with respiratory problems. With PG Tony Wroten out with a partially torn ACL, the 76ers were forced to dig into their D League team. As expected, the 76ers were routed 99-74.

It is unsure whether or not they’ll have Carter-Williams back or not on Wednesday. If not, expect D Leaguer Larry Drew II to get the nod again. Drew II had just 4 points in his NBA debut, but the 76ers have high hopes for the young point guard in the future.

As far as scoring is concerned, the 76ers will turn to Robert Covington in hopes of him producing some points for the offense. Covington is averaging 12.3 points a game, but has scored just 14 points over his last 2 games.

The 76ers have dropped 6 in a row.

  • Pistons are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games overall.
  • 76ers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 vs. NBA Central.
  • 76ers are 11-23 ATS in their last 34 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

The Pistons are giving teams ballgames, but failing to get W’s. This is a big game on Wednesday.

Detroit 104, Philadelphia 90

Needing to gain the momentum back they worked hard to obtain, beating Philadelphia is a must.
