The only thing holding back the Rockets may be that they played the night before. (So did New York)

Houston

The Rockets outlasted a Cleveland team in transition last night, using a big 4th quarter to get the victory. This was a good comeback from a loss against the Bulls earlier in the week and they are now poised to go on a nice run as the next several games are against teams with losing records.

They seemed to do a pretty good job managing minutes in the victory and you only have to be so fresh to beat the Knicks who are struggling in every way imaginable. Houston likely won’t be pushed.

Against Cleveland last night Dwight Howard was a monster with 17 points and 19 rebounds. I know that the Pistons were happy to say adios to Josh Smith but in Houston he is a nice depth player who can provide some scoring off the bench.

Though only a few games in his shooting is up significantly and the experiment is working. No need to experiment with James Harden who is leading the league in scoring.

New York

The Knicks continue to find new lows. They have fallen below Philadelphia in the standing thanks to their current 13 game losing streak and now it looks like they are going to shutdown Carmelo Anthony for the rest of the season. While some other terrible teams look like they might improve the Knicks don’t seem to have that outlook. They aren’t tanking either these guys are just that bad. It is getting pretty unwatchable too and you can almost forget backing them.

With no Melo in the lineup it is hard to know where the Knicks are going to get scoring. Last night in their loss against Washington PG Jose Calderon led the team with 17 points. I like the Spaniard but he is a complimentary player, always has been. The problem is there is nobody else now that problem child J.R. Smith has been shipped out.

This team is going to be an experiment every night.

There is not a ton of value though so look to tease this one down with another game on the light card.
