Chicago

The Bulls have won 6 straight including their less than exciting matchup with the Lakers on Christmas Day.

When this team is fully healthy it definitely looks like the best team in the Eastern Conference.

Coming into this one they are likely missing a key reserve piece in Kirk Hinrich.

Better him than Derrick Rose who has proven over the last little while that he is still an MVP calibre player when he is feeling good.

The Bulls have some light opponents coming up so there is a chance to extend their streak even further.

Jimmy Butler has been fantastic this season but if you watch the game’s when Derrick Rose is in the lineup it is clear that this is still his team.

In key recent wins against Toronto and Washington he took over in the 4th quarter like few players can, outdueling two other strong point guards in the process.

He is going to be a wildcard for the Bulls all season long but when he is in the lineup they are a good bet.

Indiana

Coming into the season everyone knew the Pacers were not going to be a contender.

I think there were some that thought they might still be a .500 team even without All-Star Paul George but there just isn’t enough there right now, even with in an Eastern Conference that has a lot of soft spots.

The Pacers have maintained their ability to limit the opposition but when it comes to scoring themselves they are limited.

There is little reason to expect much to change with this current group.

In addition to George the Pacers have not had much luck with injuries losing George Hill and David West for stretches.

Since Hill came to the lineup last week they are 2-1 and maybe they can make a bit of a push for relevance with a bit more scoring punch.

Without those two scoring was at a serious premium but they may have found their power forward of the future in Lavoy Allen. He is averaging 7 & 7 in a reserve role.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Bulls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Over is 7-1 in Bulls last 8 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Bulls are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games.
  • Under is 5-0 in Pacers last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
  • Over is 3-0-1 in Pacers last 4 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
  • Pacers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
  • Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Indiana.
  • Under is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings.

4* NBA Prediction:  Chicago -5.5

Against some teams a complete Pacers team is a threat but the Bulls are rolling so well right now they will cruise right through town gaining an easy victory in the process.

NBA Score prediction:  Chicago 97 – Indiana 87

Like so many of their recent games they will pull away late.
