Team records:
Boston: 29-13 SU, 17-25 ATS
Orlando: 29-16 SU, 22-21-2 ATS
Betting Odds: Magic -3.5
Next up: Boston at Atlanta, Friday, January 29 — Orlando home to Atlanta, Saturday, January 30

The Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks all have 29 wins so far this season but the difference separating them is the losses. The Celtics have 13, the Hawks have 15 and the Magic have 16.

Everyone knows that home court advantage is key in the NBA playoffs, which is why the Magic can’t afford to fall any further back with a loss to another contender.

Surprisingly, the two teams are both 5-5 in their last 10 games and both teams have struggled in the first month of the New Year.

Both teams entered the month 23-8 and both have just six wins since. The Magic are surprisingly just 6-8 in January and are seriously being questioned as the East’s best team, which is what they were last year.

The good news for Orlando is that they are back at home. While their magic – pun intended – on the road from last year is not with them this year, they are still 16-4 at home.

That will be the difference on Thursday between two quality, defensive-minded squads. This game is more important for Orlando than it is for Boston and the Magic will get the win on Thursday.

Pick: Magic -3.5
