2010 LifeLock.com 400 Predictions – Betting Preview + Picks + Odds

Preview: This weekend’s race at Chicagoland, and the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis in two weeks, have become two of the premiere Midwestern stops on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit, although each hosts just one Cup race per year.

Race: The LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway
Date: Saturday, July 10, 2010
Time: 7:46 PM EST (scheduled green flag)
TV: 7:30 PM EST on TNT

The Cup Series has been visiting Chicagoland once a year since 2001 for a total of nine races, with seven won by Chevy drivers, including Mark Martin last year.

Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick are the only two-time winners here; Jamie McMurray and Jimmie Johnson are on the front row for Saturday night’s race.

Safe Bets:

1. Tony Stewart (9/2): Stewart qualified P3 for the race and was 12th on the speed chart in Happy Hour. Though his two wins here were both with Joe Gibbs Racing (2004 & 2007), he finished fourth here last year in his first start for his own race team from a 32nd-place starting spot.

Tony would like a win at Chicagoland to carry momentum heading to the Brickyard in two weeks, as well as for the Chase bonus points.

2. Jimmie Johnson (6/1): Chicagoland is one of just a handful of tracks where Johnson has not yet scored a Cup victory, but don’t let that fool you. He’s run extremely well here, finishing outside the top-8 just one time in eight starts with two second-place finishes.

He leads the average finish category and was fourth fastest in Happy Hour.

Dark Horse:

1. Juan Pablo Montoya (22/1): In just three Chicago starts, Montoya has finishes of 15th, 18th, and 10th. He qualified 10th and had the single fastest lap in Happy Hour.

Summary: While there were two practice sessions at Chicagoland Friday, both were during the daytime while the race itself will be Saturday night. It’s worth noting that Ford has never been to Victory Lane at this track in the Cup series, while Dodge and Toyota have one win each.

I am taking Harvick all day to win in Chicago. The odds on him are favorable, and the way this guy has been driving I think he is going to pull it out in Chi-town. Tony Stewart drives well here as well though, wouldn’t be surprised to see him put in a good performance also..
