Can the D-backs keep their foot on the gas Wednesday afternoon? Jason Marquis will make his team debut after Arizona acquired him from the Washington Nationals before the trade deadline.
Somehow, Marquis manages to keep finding work and winning games. He’s a pretty mediocre pitcher but his walk and homer rates aren’t awful and he’s turned out six quality starts in his last 10 outings.
Marquis also has a 2.47 ERA against the Giants for his career.

Can the Giants hold onto their lead in the West with the D-backs charging hard? Ryan Vogelsong gets the nod on Wednesday. He still hasn’t turned into a pumpkin, losing just once in 17 starts this season and remaining part of the NL Cy Young discussion. If the game is close, ’Zona’s lights-out pen could be a difference-maker.
