During the first three games of the skid, it scored only five total runs. It scored 17 over the next three losses but allowed 23 runs.
Now, the A’s pitchers have righted the ship somewhat, allowing four runs in each of the last two losses, but the offense is gone again. Oakland had scored two runs in the last two games combined through Tuesday and has the league’s No. 29 offense.
Trevor Cahill will try end the streak but even he hasn’t been his efficient, dominant self of late. He hasn’t won in five starts, he’s allowed nine runs over his last two outings and he’s walked five batters twice in his last three starts.

The Chicago White Sox have been a frustrating team to watch but they’re still a deep, talented group and they’re not ready to roll over and die in the AL Central. Through Tuesday, they’d won six of eight. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Special props are in order for Paul Konerko. Remember when he was “finished”? I admittedly thought he was. But the 35-year-old first baseman keeps on trucking, posting a .318 average on the year and homering four times in his last six games.
Mark Buehrle may not need a ton of support against Oakland on Thursday. He’s 3-1 with a 2.34 ERA at U.S. Cellular this season. Even though he’s only 5-13 against Oakland in his career, he has a respectable 3.82 ERA, suggesting he’s been a bit unlucky.
