The Yankees and Twins continue their series Tuesday night with Game 2 inside Yankee Stadium. A crazy game broke loose on Monday night that featured a line drive off a pitcher’s face, key errors, key home runs, and an eventual walk off winner.
Now the Yankees look to make it 2 in a row and hold onto their 1.0 game lead in the AL East.
Things got bad for New York when they dropped 5 of 6, but have since righted the ship and gotten themselves back on track.

The Twins heartbreaking lost came after they took 2 of 3 over the weekend against divisional foe Cleveland, but after their loss they now sit 12.5 out of the division, but just 2.5 out of the Wild Card.
The Twins will go with RH Mike Pelfrey while the Yankees will counter with LH C.C. Sabathia.
Minnesota Twins
The Twins started out fast right at the beginning of the season and held first place in the AL Central division. Things took a turn of the worst and Twins faded back to the back while the Royals pulled away in the division.
Now, the Twins are in a cluster of AL opponents as they sit 2.5 games out of the Wild Card.
The Twins are hitting the ball extremely well, but the pitchers have been flopping for them as of late. Trying to get the rotation back on track RH Mike Pelfrey is called upon to take the ball on Tuesday.

Pelfrey was dominant in his last start as he allowed just 1 run on 4 hits over 7 innings of work. However, things were pretty relaxed for him as he was given an 11 run lead early in the game.
Pelfrey has struggled mightily on the road though as he is just 2-5 with an ERA of 5.95. The opposition is hitting over .350 against him as well.
His last outing was his first win since June 7th.
New York Yankees
The Yankees could have let their season go directly toward rock bottom, but veteran leadership and timely hitting has gotten them back to where they need to be.
The Yankees now hold a 1.0 game lead in the AL East after coughing up the lead for a brief period and will try to extend that lead with another win over the Twins Tuesday.
Should the Yankees cough up the AL East down this stretch of the season, games like this against Wild Card opponents are important.
New York will go with LH C.C Sabathia, who is one of those spoken veterans who have held the team together. The LH is coming off a hard luck loss as he bobbed and weaved his way through 6 innings of work against his former team, Cleveland, but fell 2-1.

Sabathia had faced Minnesota plenty of times in his career as he is 17-9 against them, but hasn’t recorded a win since July 8th.
He received a ND against Minnesota last time he faced them as he allowed 5 runs on 6 hits, including 2 home runs.
