With Oakland fading a little bit the Angels have nearly closed the gap. They are 7-3 in their last 10 and with a series coming up at Oakland after this one they have a chance to be in first place by the end of the week if they continue their strong play.

The Angels are 4th in runs per game and you could easily argue that Mike Trout is having a mediocre season. If he kicks it into gear the Josh Hamilton comes back strong their lineup could rival the Blue Jays.
C.J. Wilson has become one of the most consistent pitchers in the game and he is good too.

He is enjoying another good season and is probably psyched about getting a shot at Seattle which dealt him his worst loss of the season in their opening series – 5.2IP, 6ER.
He has given up just 1ER over his last couple of starts and he will be up to the midweek challenge of taking on King Felix and the Mariners.

Seattle
The Mariners have cooled in May after a good start. They are a game under .500 and find themselves a smidge below Texas which has been decimated by injuries.
This team has good pitching with potential reinforcements on the way for the rotation. If they can do their jobs and don’t fall too far behind than this team could be a factor in an AL West that is very competitive.
The key will be getting at least another couple of bats going beyond Robinson Cano. Corey Hart has been a non-factor so far.
Don’t look now but Felix Hernandez could be putting together an epic season. His talent is unquestionable but this year he is winning too with a 6-1 record so far.
The King struck out 11 Angels in an opening day victory and will be leaned on heavily if the Mariners are going to chase down L.A. or Oakland and be relevant this season.
He is an easy hurler to back in almost any situation.
When Hernandez is on the mound there is usually little value on Seattle but that is not the case in this one. Though Wilson and the Angels are also a nice dog play I don’t see how you can make the argument for the Angels in this one.
Odds are this is a low scoring affair.
It wouldn’t surprise to see both pitchers finish this one.
