The Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees square-off this Wednesday night in Game 2 of their three-game set this week. Game time from Yankees Stadium is set for 7:05 p.m. and it will be available on MLB TV.

Kansas City’s surprising 18-16 start has it in second-place in the AL Central; just 4 ½-games behind Cleveland as these two teams have turned this division upside down. The Royals are 15-8 at home this season but just 3-8 on the road heading into this series. The total has gone 18-15-1 this season.

The Royals’ pitching has been inconsistent at best with a 4.23 team ERA, but they will send left hander Bruce Chen to the mound in this game to try and get the win. Chen is 4-1 in seven previous starts with an ERA of 3.59 and a WHIP of 1.34. He is has struggled in the past against the Yankees with a 1-5 record and a 6.71 ERA. Kansas City is second in the AL in hitting with a .267 team batting average and tied for first in runs scored with 170.

New York is 2-4 in its last six games, but is still tied with Tampa Bay atop the AL East with an overall record of 19-13. The Yankees are 7-7 on the road and 12-6 at home. The total is 14-15-3 overall this season but has stayed ‘under’ in nine of their last 15 home games.

The overall New York pitching staff has an ERA of 3.70 and has given up 118 earned runs this season, which is fourth-best in the AL. Right hander A.J. Burnett will get the start in this game. He is 4-2 this year with a 3.71 ERA in seven starts. Lifetime against the Royals he is 3-3 with an ERA of 2.68. New York is ranked seventh in the AL in hitting with a .252 team batting average, but is tied with Kansas City and Texas in runs scored with 170.

Both these teams come into this game with the ability to put runs on the board so the ‘over’ could be the best play. Stick with the Yankees’ bats and bullpen to lead the team to a win in this one.
