A look at the cold and hot pitchers going on Friday. I will try to provide some unique pitchers statistics of the probable starters going today…

Pitchers Report for Friday June 26th

Friday’s “Need To Know”

A look at the hot and cold pitchers going on Friday. The information you need to know whether it is for fantasy baseball or wagering contests.

Probable Cold Pitchers going on Friday:

Billy Buckner (Diamondbacks, 2-4, 7.15ERA)

I just feel bad for this guy because of his name, but I feel worse for him because he stinks. Buckner in his last three outings is worse with an 0-3 record pretty hard to do in baseball these days with a 1.92WHIP and a 9.72ERA.

He did show an ability to get batters out with a season high 7K’s so hopefully this is good news on the way for him, but he will match up against one of our hot pitching notables (Jered Weaver) and it will take a great performance to keep him in the game.

Glen Perkins (Twins, 2-4, 5.10ERA)

Perkins has been terrible as of late after having some quality starts early. He owns a 1-2 record and a 7.90ERA in his last three starts.

He’ll go up against a struggling Cardinals team that just lost to the Mets again yesterday. There is simply no protection in the Cardinals lineup and they desperately need Troy Glaus to come off the DL so that Pujols has someone behind him. Ryan Ludwick in the cleanup spot has not gotten it done.

However, the Twins are among the worst on the road this year and they will go up against another solid pitcher for the Cardinals in Adam Wainwright.

Fade the Twins on the road and Perkins as he has a 10.80 ERA on the road this year in three game starts. 4ER @CLE, 4ER @BAL, and 6ER @NYY… How many ER @STL??

Notables – Last 3 Starts!

Silva (0-0, 1.60WHIP, 6.00ERA)

Vargas (1-2, 1.44WHIP, 5.71ERA)

Sowers (0-2, 1.74WHIP, 6.91ERA)

Probable Hot Pitchers on Friday:

Matt Cain (Giants, 9-1, 2.28ERA)

Cain has been solid on the season and in his last three starts he has been even better with a 2-0 record allowing less than 1 runner on base per inning (0.90) and a 2.31 ERA.

Bet at 5Dimes

He’s been consistent all the way through with an ERA below 3 in all situations home, away, day, or night. 13 of his 14 starts have gone for 6 innings or more and you have to wonder when he might have a bad game, but his arm strength has to be getting only stronger as he has just 2 appearances where he has thrown less than 100 pitches.

He’ll go up against the Brewers and Gallardo who has also pitched well. The Brewers have a team average of .226 vs. Cain. Cain has three career starts where he has pitched 20 innings and has an ERA of 4.05. Look for a nice pitching match up here Saturday night as Gallardo has a 3.71ERA in his last three starts and has pitched well against the Giants in the past.

Josh Becket (Cardinals, 8-3, 3.74ERA)

Just make sure this guy does not have a blister or something and you are ready to go. Arguably the best RHP in the game next to Chris Carpenter who lost on Thursday by the way.

Becket has been dominant since starting the season slow and he owns a 2-1 record with a 0.90WHIP and a 2.57ERA in his last three starts. Becket has not had the same success on the road this year with a 4.67ERA but I would not pay much attention with him pitching on the road in the National League here tonight.

Becket in his last 6 starts dating back to 2005 against Atlanta owns a 5-1 record with a 0.45ERA. Yes you read that correctly. Judging by the Braves struggles vs. RHP I’d say they are in for a long day. They are scoring just 3.09 runs per 9 innings in their last 5 vs. RHP. Friday they face one of the best.

Notables – Last 3 Starts!

Millwood (2-1, 1.06WHIP, 1.25ERA)

Jered Weaver (2-1, 1.38WHIP, 3.10ERA)

Kershaw (1-1, 1.57whip, 1.76ERA)

Harang (0-1, 1.14WHIP, 1.62ERA)

Bergessen (2-0, .77WHIP, 2.31ERA)

Josh Johnson (1-1, 1.00WHIP, 2.74ERA)
