The Indians and Royals finish up a 3 game set with the rubber match on Thursday night. Cleveland took game 1 with a 2-1 late inning victory. Kansas City responded by jumping on Corey Kluber early and often as they went on to defeat Cleveland 4-2 in the middle game.

Now, the Indians look to conclude their road trip on a winning note, while Kansas City tries to take over sole possession of first place.

Cleveland Indians vs. Kansas City Royals

The Indians have an opportunity for to finish their Seattle & Kansas City road trip on a 5-2 note with a victory in the finale of a 3 game set on Thursday. Cleveland took 3 of 4 out in Seattle and then split the first 2 games of the series with Kansas City. Their ace, Corey Kluber, could not get the necessary run support and they’ll now turn to a guy who is right up there in strikeouts with Kluber, Trevor Bauer.

Bauer has turned in 4 straight solid starts, but was the lone loser in the Seattle series over the weekend. Bauer made one bad pitch that turned into a 2 run home run and Cleveland could only manufacture 1 run as they fell 2-1. Bauer has been on the end of some tough luck and lack of run support many times this season.

Still, Bauer has turned in a 4-2 record this season and has been very reliable for Cleveland.

Bauer faced Kansas City once this season and was once again on the short end of the stick. He battled through 6.0 innings, allowing 3 runs and left with the lead only to have the bullpen blow up the following inning.

As for Kansas City, they worked their way into a first place tie atop the AL Central division with a win on Wednesday, combined with a Twins loss/win in their doubleheader. Kansas City will try to take the series from Cleveland behind one of their most surprising pitchers of the 2015 season, Chris Young.

Chris Young brings in a 4-1 record, but suffered his first defeat last time out.

Against the Yankees, Young allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings as the Royals fell 4-2.

Young has had some solid success against Cleveland in his career going 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in five career games.

The Royals have been one of the best home teams in baseball thus far as they bring in an 18-8 record inside Kauffman Stadium.
