MLB: Angels vs Giants Predictions

Major League Baseball Betting sees the Los Angeles Angels taking on the San Francisco Giants on Friday May 1 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California. Cappers Pick provides complimentary handicapping picks all MLB season long.

A little bit of interleague play on the left coast. Both teams are looking for something to jump start a slow beginning to the season.

Los Angeles

With the trade of Josh Hamilton and the injury to Albert Pujols the Angels have definitely been in the news.

[dfads params=’groups=63744&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Neither has been a good story but with their win yesterday over Oakland they are at .500 as they head up the coast to San Francisco. Mike Trout is off to a good start but the offense has not been very good so far.

The pitching has been better but not to the point that it is obvious the Angels are among the better team in the division or the AL. This just might be a .500 team.

C.J. Wilson has gotten off to a solid start.

Three of his four starts have been quality outings and he has only given up 2ER in 14+ road innings this season. Walks are always going to be his weakness but he is keeping his strikeout to walk ratio in the 2:1 range which is his career norm.

The way he is going now he might be able to steal a game on the road against a lighter lineup.

San Francisco

The Giants still have many of the pieces of their recent championship team but so far this team has not found its groove for 2015.

[dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Right now they are sitting in last place in the NL West, surprisingly behind both Colorado and Arizona. They have a losing record at home and the second worst offense in the league.

Hunter Pence is still expected out a few more weeks and they desperately need him to kick the team in the butt before the season gets too far away from them.

Seeing so much of them in the playoffs make the Giants very familiar but starter Christopher Heston is a new name. He made the rotation out of the spring and so far has been as good as any Giants starter, including Madison Bumgarner. He has had one bad outing, his last start at Colorado.

[dfads params=’groups=63745&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

That definitely happens to the best of them so there is no reason to think he is not MLB ready.

MLB Betting Trends:

  • Over is 6-2-2 in LAA last 10 road games.
  • LAA are 3-13 in Wilsons last 16 road starts.
  • Over is 34-14-3 in Wilsons last 51 road starts.
  • SF are 1-8 in their last 9 games as a favorite.
  • SF are 2-7 in their last 9 vs. American League West.
  • Under is 7-2 in SF last 9 games as a home favorite.

MLB Betting Prediction: San Francisco -107

I am banking on a strong bounce back by Heston and SF pushing just enough runs across to win.

MLB Score Prediction:  San Francisco 4 – Los Angeles 3

He has good numbers and will be unfamiliar to the Angels. There is just enough there for the win.
