Major League Baseball betting sees the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday May 27 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. Cappers Picks provides complimentary handicapping picks all MLB season long.

The Cardinals are looking to win a third in a row at home against the Diamondbacks, an undermanned team with a few big bats.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks may be under .500 but they have been more respectable than most people thought this season.

There is no question that there are some fearsome bats in their lineup but the pitching is not keeping up.

That was to be expected and it probably means that their current level of success (relative) is probably not sustainable.

However, with an offense that now has import Yasmany Tomas in the fold they are at least a threat most nights.

Josh Collmenter is typical of the Arizona starting staff.

On some nights he is good enough to win but he is below average by MLB standards and certainly does not put much fear in the opponent.

He is not alone in the rotation but he is better served to be a long man or spot starter then a guy with a regular turn.

He just lets the offense put too many balls into play and his best days are behind him.

St. Louis

The Cardinals have the best record in the Majors and are the first team in the NL to reach 30 victories so you can probably say they are third of the way towards guaranteeing a playoff spot.

St. Louis is in the middle of the pack in terms of offense but they have the best team ERA in the Majors, a pretty neat feat given that they have lost their ace for the rest of the season.

It might go without saying but this team just doesn’t beat itself and cleans up against inferior teams.

Michael Wacha may have grabbed the ace mantle but to me Lance Lynn symbolizes what the Cards are all about. He is consistently very good so don’t get thrown by his 3-4 record.

All of the peripherals look good and he is actually missing bats at a higher rate than he has the last couple of seasons.

At home his numbers are stronger and as a righty he will have the advantage against Arizona’s best bats.

4* MLB Betting Prediction:  Over 7.5

No value backing the Cardinals but I am surprised the total is set so low.

MLB Score Prediction:  St. Louis 6 – Arizona 4

Collmenter gives up his fair share and Lynn is not a shutout kind of guy. Take the over.
