Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Sox Gambling Odds & MLB Free Prediction

Indians vs Red Sox Baseball Picks

The Indians had won 9 of 10 before getting cooled off by Kansas City the last couple of games. They are in amazingly tight race in the AL Central where all the teams are within a couple of wins of each other with Detroit on top because they have the fewest losses.

Cleveland

The Indians offense has been a nice surprise with Michael Brantley having a strong season and Lonnie Chisenhall starting to finally live up to his prospect status. If veterans Asdrubal Cabrera and Nick Swisher get on track this team may have some staying power.

Josh Tomlin has been solid coming off missing almost all of 2013 due to injury.

All of his numbers look good and he has been a big part of Cleveland’s run up to second place in the AL Central behind Detroit. Tomlin is a control expert giving up less than a free pass per start.

He doesn’t overpower but he is getting results and the Indians rotation is longer as a result. In the past I would have faded him

Boston

The Red Sox are slumping again.

They just lost two of three at Baltimore and in both losses they were shutout…against Baltimore!

The only consistent offensive threat is David Ortiz with even the uber reliable Dustin Pedroia well off his game – he is even getting gunned down on the basepaths more than usual showing us that something is just not right with him, or the team for that matter.

At this point of the season I am not sure how much of a rebound we can reasonably expect.

The Red Sox have been struggling with their starting pitching this season but Jon Lester has been just fine. He may have had a few clunkers but overall his numbers are solid.

The fact that he has shelled his last time out by Detroit might be a positive.

As a veteran he seems to bear down after a bad one.

This season he has been much more effective at Fenway than on the road. This might be one of those years where his winning percentage won’t be a good indicator of how he is pitching.

As a Jays fan I am enjoying the struggles of the Sawx but I think they will get this one behind a strong performance by Jon Lester. This team is struggling offensively but they won’t need all that much is Lester does his job.

These are two sporadic teams right now which should make for an interesting series.
