The Atlanta Braves and the Seattle Mariners kick-off a three-game set at Safeco Field on Tuesday night as interleague play for both teams continues for one more week. The game is scheduled for a 10:10 p.m. start and will be broadcast on the MLB Network.

Atlanta’s 4-1 loss to San Diego as a 118 road favorite on Sunday dropped it to 44-35 on the year and five games in back of Philadelphia in the NL East. The Braves are still an NL-best 22-18 on the road this season and 22-17 at home.

Pitching remains the strong suit of this team with a 3.08 team ERA, which is second-best in the NL. Atlanta is ranked 14th in the league in hitting with a team batting average of .237 and 10th in scoring with an average of 3.90 runs per game.

Tommy Hanson is expected to get the start for the Braves after missing his last two with a sore shoulder. He is 8-4 with a 2.48 ERA overall, but an even more solid 7-1 with an ERA of 2.02 in his last 10 starts. This will be the first time he has faced the Mariners in his three-year career.

Seattle continues to be one of the biggest surprises this season as it trails Texas in the AL West by just a game and a half. The Mariners are 5-5 in their last 10 games and coming off a 2-1 victory over Florida on Sunday as a 114 road underdog. They are 39-39 overall; 16-20 on the road and 23-19 at home. Much like the Braves, this team has relied on excellent pitching to remain right on the Rangers’ heels in the division. The Mariners are ranked last in the AL in both hitting with a dismal .228 team batting average and scoring with just 269 total runs.

Left-hander Michael Pineda will be on the mound for Seattle. He is 7-4 this season with a 2.45 ERA. His last time out, the rookie held Washington scoreless for seven innings on just four hits, but still failed to get the decision.

These teams last faced one another in 2008 with the Braves taking two of three at home. This time around, stick with Seattle to gain the early edge in its home park as Pineda turns in another impressive outing.
